After graduating into the recession, Blkcreatives founder Melissa Kimble struggled to find a job. College degree in hand, she ended up taking a role at FedEx to pay the bills. When she wasn’t throwing boxes and loading airplanes, she was building a digital platform on the side to feed her soul and creativity.
She didn’t know it at the time, but what she was doing would launch the Blkcreatives MOVEMENT. Now, she has amassed an active digital community of over 22K millennials of color and counting.
In this episode, we talk about:
- The first steps she took to start taking Blkcreatives from idea to brand
- How she balances creating her brand with working a full time job
- What’s behind her strong love and passion for social media
- How she started creating multi-city events to amplify the Blkcreatives community
